The amazing story of the buddha

Today we went to the National Museum of Japanese History.

When we walked (I have walked more in the last 6 weeks than in the previous 6 months!) up the hill towards the museum we saw this buddha, and as The Smurg is totally into them we decided to take a closer look.

It’s a pity when you can’t read the language, as we really wanted to know why the Buddha was removed from it’s original location and transported to Sakura

It’s in fact quite impressive to see how the chisseled it out, and moved the whole slab without one crack or dent.

Closeup investigation, got both of us giggling like a pair of kids

Taken in by a fibreglass reproduction!

Goodnight all, it’s good to smile before bed

Thank you for sharing your journey. I had a Japanese pen pal when I was in the 7th grade and we corresponded until after I was married.I never net her but have wonderful memories of her.. Your photos are so inspiring and make me wish I could go visit her homeland.

Are you still in touch with your penpal?
Japan is a wonderful country, I truly love it, and it’s a lot less expensive then people always say. At least I think it is, but then I dont care much for expensive hotels and restaurants 🙂

Maybe one day you’re dream will come true Ann, and thank you for your kind words
