The Great Buddha of Kamakura at the Kōtoku-in Temple

Back again from our trip to the Mt.Fuji region with a lot of things to share.

On our first day we drove from Narita to Kamakura to see the great Buddha, also known as the Daibutsu of Kamakura. Wiki has heaps of info about it HERE (saves me writing it all down!)
When you arrive you 1st come to this stone throug where you are to wash and cleanse your hands

Then you proceed to the main temple area

Doesn’t look to impressive until you see it in full glory

It’s huge, truly but so very beautiful. to think it has been around for centuries and is still in this good a shape with all the elemental ‘damage’, at least it survived one tsunami.
At some point it was gilded, and only minute traces of that can be found near the ears. Ms blindasabat couldn’t make those out.

The smurg also thought it was a great place, especially with so many people saying “Kawaii” and hugging her. Kawaii meaning cute. She though was a little more interested in climbing on things

It was a truly lovely area to visit and I highly recommend it.

One of the things I particularly enjoyed was the fact that for 10 cents they let you take a stroll inside the buddha.
